NC3Rs Project Grant (2019-2023): James Wakefield
This project aims to generate a quantifiable way to assess the interaction between Galleria mellonella immune cells and immune evasion mutants of Candida albicans. On top of this, we hope to generate an immune-cell specific fluorescent transgenic line of Galleria mellonella. DSTL PhD Studentship (2022-2026): Ivan Cañada Luna This project aims to generate transgenic Galleria mellonella lines to assess the interaction between the pathogenic bacterium Coxiella burnetii and a capsulating strain of Burkholderia thailandensis with the innate immune system of the larvae. The overarching goal is to generate a more robust replacement animal model for human pathogens. NC3Rs Training Fellowship (2022-2024): James Pearce NC3Rs ECR Enhancement Award (2023): Jennie Campbell This award will fund various activities related to the promotion of Galleria mellonella as a replacement model. |
